Potato beef olives
from Lower Saxony, Germany although this is not a typical recipe from Northern Germany

Ingredients
(serves 4 hungry adults or 6 children)

  • 12 (medium-sized) potatoes equal in size
  • 12 slices of ham (farm ham)
  • 500 gr. Thuringian Mett
  • 1 big onion
  • 1 red paprika
  • 2 Packs à 200g herbal processed cheese
  • 1 mug Schmand
  • 2 mugs cream

Preparation
Preheat the oven on 170 °C. Cook the potatoes with bowl (follow their size!) and peel them after cooking. Wrap ham slices around the potatoes. Lay the wrapped potatoes in a crowd form. Cut paprika in small cubes. Sear Mett and onions crumbly and add paprika. Mix cheese, Schmand and cream and add the Mett. Pour the mass about the beef olives. Put it in the oven. Baking time approx. 40 minutes at 170 °C (air circulation).
