Welcome to the homepage of the Swedish Chef, our Geocaching Travelbug that is travelling around the world to find out about new delicious things to cook.
If you have found our little Swedish Chef and want to help teaching him how to cook new delicious food, this is what you should do:
This page is part of a so called Wiki (a type of website where you edit pages through a web-browser). Perhaps you have never worked with one, so if you think that these instructions looks too complicated, please feel free to e-mail me the recipe and I will enter the recipe in the Wiki for you.
If you want to give it a try (which I encourage - it’s really not difficult), then before doing anything else print out these instructions, or have them available in a window of its own in your browser. Then:
- Think about something nice to eat, that you have the recipe for. This should ideally be something from the area where you live
- Click on the word CookBook to go to - you guessed it - the cookbook.
- Put the cookbook page in Edit-mode by clicking on the “Edit Page” link just above the contents of the page.
- You will be asked for a password. This is so that not everyone, but only those who actually have picked up the travel bug, can enter recipes here. The password is printed on the label that is attached to the travelbug!
- Enter your name in the “Author” field below the text when you get to the edit-mode.
- Scroll down and position the cursor below the last existing recipe. Think of a name of your recipe. This name should have a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, such as BeefCurry and must not contain spaces between words! (This is how the Wiki knows that you want to create a new page). Enter the name of your recipe now.
- Click the “Save” button.
- You will now see the page again, but with the name of your recipy at the end, followed by a small question-mark. Click on the name of your recipe and you will get to a newly created page for you, where you can enter your recipe.
- This should take you to the “Edit Page” of your newly created recipe page with the name of your recipe at the top. Start entering your recipe in the big text-area. Also enter your name in the “Author” field below the text-area. (There is a row of text-formatting buttons on top of the text that you can use to format your recipe nicely if you want).
- Click on the “Save” button
- See how it looks, if you are not satisfied, just click “Edit Page” again, and change things until you are happy with the results.
- You are done! Thanks for your contribution!
If you would like to see recipes that other people have entered, just go to the CookBook page again and click on the name of any recipe that you want to find out about. The recipe named “SampleRecipe” can be a good starting point in getting the hang of how the formatting of text works in this wiki.
